from 101 Teas to Steep Before You Die
Using liquids other than water to steep your tea is a great way to add another layer of flavor to your beverage. This one can be boozy . . . or not.
Ingredients
½ cup (118 ml) apple cider
1 tsp or 1 strong black tea bag
⅓ tsp cinnamon
¼ cup (59 ml) milk of your choice
1½ oz (44 ml) Calvados apple brandy (optional)*
1 tsp honey, plus more to taste
* Omit if you want to keep this non alcoholic!
Directions
Bring the apple cider to a boil and add the tea. Steep for 8 minutes. Remove the tea. Combine the cinnamon and milk in a pan. Bring it to a boil and then remove it from the heat.
Pour the tea into a cup halfway, add the Calvados (if using), top with the heated milk, and sweeten with honey to taste.
Yields: 1 serving
Nada’s Tips & Tricks: Change up the flavour by substituting other flavoured alcohol and using the fruit juice that matches the brandy/rum/vodka. Or substitute maple syrup for the honey…or use flavoured honey to spice things up. Lots of variations!
