Dr. Christopher Labos shares his favourite mussel recipe with us…enjoy!

Ingredients

1 kg of mussels in shell (you can also get frozen mussel meat)

1/4 cup of butter

1 cup of your favourite cheese, grated

Some minced garlic

Some chopped Italian parsley

Salt and pepper

Instructions

Preheat oven to 300°F.

*Steam mussels for 15-20 minutes.

In a pan, melt the butter and sauté the mussels for 4-5 minutes. Add minced garlic, and salt and pepper to taste.

Put everything in an oven safe ramekin or baking dish. Cover everything with your grated cheese.

Put it in the oven for about five minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Garnish with the chopped Italian parsley, as desired. Enjoy!

* If you are using frozen mussel meat, you can skip step 2 and 3. Instead, allow the Frozen muscle meat to thoroughly defrost. Pat dry with a clean paper towel, before proceeding to step 4.
