Mango Habanero Meatball Sliders

from Pepper North

Let’s make some spicy meatball sliders, Pepper North style!

Ingredients

• 12 buns
• 1 lb of ground meat (we used 1/2lb beef, 1/2lb pork)
• 1 ball of fresh mozzarella
• 1 can of tomato/pasta sauce of choosing
• 1/2c Breadcrumbs
• 1 egg
• Pepper North Bajan-Style Mango & Habanero Hot Sauce

Directions

Cut buns (we used brioche) and place face up on pan and broil on high for 3 minutes to get the buns crunchy to absorb sauce.

Mix ground beef and ground pork (can us all ground beef, if pork is not in your diet), breadcrumbs and 1 egg. Form into golf ball-sized meatballs.

Heat skillet to medium high heat and add a splash of olive oil.

Place meatballs in skillet and brown on all sides (about 1 minute on each side). We used cast iron skillet that go right into the oven (can complete cooking on stove or transfer to pan if needed)

Place in 350-degree oven and cook for 7 more minutes.

While meatballs are cooking, place a spoonful of pasta sauce on tosted buns and a slice of fresh mozzarella. When meatballs are done, put one on each bun, top with more sauce and add your Bajan-Style Mango & Habanero hot sauce.

Put back in the oven for 2 minutes to melt everything together. Place top buns on the sandwich, serve and enjoy.

Nada’s Tips & Tricks: Mix up your ground meat – lamb, sausage, etc. for different flavours…also the cheese. I like Gruyere or Manchego. Changing up the hot sauce is a lot of fun too!
