Halloween Pizzas

from Shy Cat

The class has a pizza party in Shy Cat and with Halloween approaching, try one (or all!) of these ideas. Get the kids involved and let them create their own spooky masterpieces!

Spider Web Pizza

Ingredients

1 pre-made pizza crust

1 cup tomato sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Chopped parsley (for garnish)

Directions

Preheat your oven according to the pizza crust package instructions.

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza crust, leaving a small border around the edges.

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, covering it completely.

In a small bowl, mix sour cream with garlic powder and oregano for added flavor.

Using a piping bag or a plastic sandwich bag with a corner cut off, pipe concentric circles of sour cream on top of the pizza, starting from the center and moving outward.

Using a toothpick or a knife, gently drag lines from the center to the outer edge to create the spiderweb effect.

Bake the pizza according to the crust instructions, typically about 12-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley, and slice before serving.

Frankenstein Pizza

Ingredients

1 rectangular pizza dough

1 cup green pesto

8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

1/2 cup black olives, sliced

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

Roll out the rectangular pizza dough on a baking sheet, stretching it to fit the pan.

Spread the green pesto evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Arrange the mozzarella slices on top of the pesto.

Place the sliced black olives strategically to resemble bolts on Frankenstein’s neck.

Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top and season with salt and pepper.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and slice it up to serve. Enjoy your spooky creation!

Make Your Own Mini Spooky Pizza

Ingredients

pita breads (flatbread or premade pizza crust)

pizza sauce (homemade, canned, or marinara sauce)

grated cheese (white or cheddar cheese)

black olives (or green olives)

pepperoni slices large or mini

cooked crumbled sausage

string cheese

real cheese slices (white-ghosts, orange pumpkins)

candy eyes

optional: mushrooms or red or green bell pepper

Directions

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Start preparing all your toppings.

Place an oven safe baking rack on a large baking sheet pan, and each pita bread on the rack. Toast the pitas in the oven for 7 minutes until they are just firm and golden brown. This is the easier way to get them slightly crisp before putting your favorite toppings on.

If you make your pizza sauce at home, mix a small 6 oz can of roasted garlic tomato paste with an 8-ounce can of tomato sauce, and a teaspoon of Italian seasoning.

Spread a thin layer of sauce on each pita bread using a small brush or the back of a spoon, and decorate for Halloween.

Place decorated Halloween Pita Pizzas on the oven rack over a large sheet pan, and bake for 7 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until the cheese melts. After baking add some candy eyes, and serve warm!

Nada’s Tips & Tricks: Have Halloween cookie cutters handy so kids can cut out shapes from cheese slices. Substitute the pizza crust in the first two recipes with flatbread, Naan bread, focaccia or pitas. Make skulls out of mushrooms:
