The wild rice gives this stuffing a nuttiness flavour. If you want to add chopped pecans or walnuts, this would enhance that taste.
Ingredients
1 cup dry Rusty’s Wild Rice
2 tbsp butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 apple, cored and chopped
8-10 slices bread
1 tbsp fresh sage, chiffonade
Directions
Cook the Rusty’s Wild Rice per package directions (also here!) Drain and set aside.
Melt butter in large frying pan and sauté the garlic. Add celery, onion, and apple to frying pan and stir to combine.
Chop up the bread (gluten-free works great!) into cubes and add to frying pan. Add prepared wild rice and sage.
Stir thoroughly and continue to cook for 5-10 minutes. Stuff bird and bake.
Nada’s Tips & Tricks: I like to add poultry seasoning to my stuffing to give it an extra turkey flavouring. Chiffonade is basically slicing the herb into strips. This releases the flavour into the mixture. For alternatives to apples, add figs, prunes or olives.
