The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a traditional Chinese celebration that falls on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. It is a time for families to come together, admire the full moon, and enjoy mooncakes, a sweet pastry that symbolizes unity and harmony. Lanterns are often lit, and children participate in parades and games, making it a joyous occasion filled with family, food, and cultural rituals.
Sukkot is a Jewish harvest festival that commemorates the Israelites’ time in the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt. It is observed by building a temporary shelter called a sukkah, where families eat meals and sometimes sleep to remind themselves of the nomadic life of their ancestors. Sukkot is a time of gratitude, with families gathering to give thanks for the harvest and blessings they’ve received.
