I stopped by the Cake & Loaf Bakery in Hamilton (321 Dundurn St S) and let the aromas waft through my body, mind and spirit. The staff are friendly and helpful suggesting yummy treats to take home. I settled on OMG Bar, Lemon Loaf and Campfire Cookie – all recipes found in this cookbook.
They also have a shelf of local products that will add a special pop to any dish you’re making…from Dawson’s Hot Sauce to Humble Bee honey (these guys are pretty inventive – they have rooftop hives throughout Hamilton producing local honey!). Check them out at https://humble-bee-inc.myshopify.com/
But back to the cookbook…it starts with “Advice for Bakers” – some great tips from experienced ladies and then on to Essential Tools and Equipment. We then launch into the recipes with “Morning Baking”, then a chapter for various dessert categories (cakes and loaves!) and ending with tried-and-true recipes for icings and fillings.
We thought you’d like to try the Bacon Chocolate Chunk Cookies – we did and wanted to share them in our Recipe section. I dipped the bacon in some maple syrup and used chocolate chips – change things up to what you like – but keep to the basics of this cookie recipe. It is divine!
